The Treehouse Cafe
About This Spot
Stepping into The Treehouse Cafe on Leven Street feels like finding a quiet nook where the busy rhythm of Edinburgh softens just enough to slow down and breathe. This inviting spot hums with a gentle, unhurried energy—a blend of familiar comfort and thoughtful touches that make it feel like a second home for many locals and visitors alike.
The interior wraps around you with soft daylight that filters through leafy window plants, lending a fresh, natural calm to the space. There’s a casual buzz in the air, a mix of hushed conversations and the comforting sounds of milk frothing and coffee pouring—each moment unfolding at its own relaxed pace without feeling rushed.
Here, a morning or midday stop becomes a quiet ritual, centered on simple, satisfying flavors that invite you to linger. The baristas craft warm oat cappuccinos and smooth espresso blends that have quickly won the hearts of many, while the breakfast offerings are anything but ordinary. Pancakes come generously piled and playfully paired—from sweet combinations of berries, honey, and cinnamon to savory delights with bacon and maple syrup—each plate an invitation to savor something both familiar and a little unexpected.
The Treehouse Cafe’s welcoming nature extends beyond its menu to a warmth in service and space. Attentive but never intrusive, the staff create an atmosphere where everyone—from solo coffee sippers to families with toddlers and dog lovers—feels included and well cared for. The unpretentious charm here lies in these small, human moments: a shared smile behind the counter, a waiter’s quick apology offered with genuine care even when the place is bustling, and the quiet appreciation of a perfectly made hot chocolate on a chilly day.
Whether you’re escaping a rainy Edinburgh morning or simply claiming a pause in your day, The Treehouse Cafe offers more than just food and drink — it offers a softly lit pause where the city’s pace recedes and the simple pleasure of good company and honest flavors take center stage.

What a great surprise!!! The food was incredible, nice waiters, everything super clean and doggy friendly. I definitely recommend this place to everyone if you want to have a lovely coffee and if you can, their tasty pancakes as they are incredible! Plus really good price quality.

Absolutely amazing food and drinks!! My husband said his cappuccino was better than any he’s had in Italy, and we live there. My London fog was so good that I ordered two. Our apple cinnamon pancakes and porridge (for our toddler) were so delicious. Highly recommend taking a break from the rain and enjoy all the wonderful options here.

What a wonderful place for a delicious breakfast. The pancakes with apples, maple syrup and cinnamon were just perfect! One small thing... The expresso... Is more of ristretto sized. You might find better to order it double. But on the very bright side, it's a specialty coffee blend and very good.

Popped in for breakfast and had a great experience! Highly recommend the scrambled eggs with emmental, or the pancakes with banana and honey. Coffee also very delicious! Staff are also wonderful and attentive. A must visit if you’re in the area!

Loved this place! A cosy little café with plants growing by the window, where you can get a big cup of hot chocolate and a generous pile of pancakes to start your day in the best possible way. The morning we came in, the café was busy with customers and the waiter apologized for making us wait... which came as a surprise to us, as we thought the service was actually pretty quick! Does this mean it's even quicker usually? I would love to come by again and find out!

Student discount applies for food only. Love their soup & panini - cappuccino and chai latte are not bad!

Lovely brunch cafe in Bruntsfield area that serves pancakes. I love their coffee! However I found their pancakes are quite decent to my liking however, they have variety of toppings to go with them. The cafe was packed when we were there but their team still delivered an excellent service. Overall it's 4⭐ from me

Really lovely spot! The pancakes are delicious, soft, well-made, and genuinely tasty. Their paninis are great too, always fresh and perfectly toasted. The café has a cozy, relaxed vibe, and the staff are warm and friendly, which makes it an easy place to enjoy a casual brunch or coffee break. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area.
